According to the Annual Status of Education Report (ASER) 2018 report, 43% of the 14-18
age group students are not able to do simple division. 76% of students can count money and 42% of
this age group is working simultaneously along with schooling. All these facts speak volume about
the skilled India dream.
The education system is highly flawed, neither able to meet the demands of the student nor
capable of providing any skill that can be further used for getting jobs.
Avaricious and inefficient pedagogy endorsing the idea of private tuition class is yet another
reason for plummeting standards of education.
It would not be wrong to say that our education system is brimming with parochialism syllabus.
The government needs to hike the education budget from the 2.7%n to 7% of GDP.
