Employee recognition has long been an integral part of effective management practices. But today, as competitiveness escalates, it has become more important than ever. Employee recognition refers to the ways by which an organization appreciates its employees’ contributions.

    Employee recognition does matter as:

    • To retain top talent
    • Increase employee engagement
    • Encourage high employee performance
    • Improved productivity
    • Better employee satisfaction
    • Enhanced work culture

Recognition is often tied with overall employee experience and positive work culture. It lends higher job satisfaction and uplifts their productivity essentially. If your organization doesn’t work for employee recognition, you’re missing out on the most vital way to boost employee performance.

Recognition of employees must be done both by offering monetary benefits and nonmonetary benefits.

The nonmonetary benefits should include some point-based system or rewarding them with fringe benefits. Monetary benefits should include increased compensation, bonuses, and more.

Keep employee recognition to specific employees and limit it to the roles and responsibilities they have performed specifically.  Employees get highly satisfied when they’re recognized personally and specifically.

I realized the importance of employee recognition by reading an article in The HR Digest. It explained how employee recognition benefits employees as well as the organization.
