  1. A raw food diet is based upon the belief that food is most nutritious when ingested uncooked or unprocessed. Proponents of the raw food movement focus on the effect that cooking can have on food – both denaturing naturally occurring enzymes and decreasing nutritional value. Raw food is how nature intended food to be, and thereby in this purest form; the form that Mother Nature herself felt best supported the optimal functioning’s of our body.
Probably the most obvious and perhaps profound benefit of a raw diet is the increase in phytonutrients, vitamins and minerals. When naturally nutritionally dense foods are cooked, the very aspect that makes these foods healthier is significantly destroyed, or damaged. Raw food-ists have an increased intake in micro and macro nutrients, and antioxidants, which are important for disease prevention and overall better health
