Parents and educators need to constantly find new and interesting educational games that will help kids improve their general knowledge. Let’s explore a few of them.

Today, to succeed in life, it’s important for kids to have that little extra something or what is called the ‘x-factor’. Everyone has a great education and there are only limited opportunities in the world, so you’ve got to find ways in which your child can stay ahead of their peers. Most times, the syllabus taught in school is not enough to keep the child abreast of key concepts that are an important part of the child’s growth and development. Skills like coding, analytical thinking, and logical reasoning, along with being up to date on developments in the country and in the world are often not included in the school syllabus. And as kids get older, it will be extremely beneficial if they have this knowledge. Here are some cool math games for kids that will help them grow intellectually.

    1. Newspaper Reading

Whether it’s the physical newspaper or news apps, make it a habit for your kids to read about what’s going on in the country and in the world every day. They just need to spend 20 minutes or half an hour doing this. The newspaper, apart from global and national news, also has some great additional sections on art, lifestyle, sports, technology, etc. By reading this, your child will slowly understand what interests them the most. This habit will help them thrive socially too because they will be able to have enriching conversations with their peers, teachers, and other people they interact with. It also helps them become socially aware of the world and, in turn, become socially conscious of their actions and thoughts.

    2. Learning Apps

Learning apps have some interesting educational games for 5 year olds that teach kids about various concepts. Right from mental math to countries around the world, there are engaging and fun activities that allow kids to learn without it feeling like studying. SKIDOS is a learning app that focuses on educational games for preschoolers that enhance their academic, emotional, and social skills. Their games range from social emotional learning activities for preschool and creative games to puzzles and activities on personal development, problem-solving, and logical thinking.

    3. Museum Visits

Once in a while, you can take the kids on an excursion to the museum, and that’s as good as an educational game. Every city has all kinds of museums ranging from natural history to art. At museums, they will learn about various people, places, and episodes that have gone down in history. They will learn about the evolution of man and other species, different civilizations, various cultures, and much more. Knowing about all these findings and events will improve their general knowledge and give them a chance to be amazed at how the world has changed and grown through the years.

    4. Quiz Shows

Games shows like ‘Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?’, ‘Who Wants to be a Millionaire?’, and ‘Crystal Maze’, among others, are some great shows that increase the general knowledge of children. They are exciting and fun so kids will not be bored by them. In fact, they’ll be waiting for the next episode to see what new facts and learnings are in store for them. Kindergarten and elementary school is when there’s scope for kids to absorb a whole lot of knowledge. They are eager to learn and enjoy the process, so it’s important for parents to come up with fun ways to help them grow their knowledge.

    5. Storytelling

You could keep a day in the week for family storytelling night that can serve as educational games for kindergarten kids. To enhance the general knowledge of kids, the primary criteria of game night is that every member should bring a new fun fact every week. It could be about history, sports, animals, nature, art, cinema, culture, or any other interesting events. The person could narrate the story and maybe even watch some educational videos or a movie about it if it’s available. You could maybe have a quiz at the end too to see how much your child has paid attention. This way, every week, your child will learn something new in a fun way plus spend some quality time with the family!

Educational games for preschoolers that will enhance their general knowledge are extremely important and will help them advance academically and intellectually. There are many activities and games that you can consider to make this happen. Feeding them with these knowledgeable activities will ensure that their growth and development is holistic.
